Now that it is clear that Cristian Chivu will be taking over at Inter as the new manager, the focus is once again back on the transfer market. As per recent actions, it does seem that the Nerrazzuri are in the hunt for a new central defender. Inter seem to be looking specifically at younger options, given the higher age profile of their squad. It has been reported that talks are ongoing with Giovanni Leoni, who Chivu had already worked with at Parma. It has now been reported by Gazzetta.it, that there is a new name on the shortlist, that of Valencia’s Cristhian Mosquera. The Spanish defender of Colombian descent has garnered quite a lot of attention over the last couple of years and many big clubs are said to be scouting him. Valencia will demand north of €20m for Mosquera and it must be said that he is a bargain for that price. Inter need to sell players in defence to make place for him though.
