Former Italy and Inter player turned pundit Marco Tardelli has given a positive assessment of the current situation at Inter Milan, writing in La Stampa that the Nerazzurri have rediscovered their identity under Cristian Chivu.
The former Italy midfielder highlighted how the coach has stayed true to the team’s playing style despite recent difficulties.
“Good news for Inter fans: they have found their team again,” Tardelli remarked in today’s edition of the Italian newspaper, via FCInterNews.
Inter struggled at the start of the season, with defeats to Udinese and Juventus raising question marks over Chivu’s suitability.
The Nerazzurri took a big risk on the Romanian in the summer, bringing the coach in from Parma to replace Simone Inzaghi.
Some in the press have been critical of Chivu’s decision to keep Inzaghi’s framework largely intact, rather than switching it up dramatically.
“Chivu was right not to change the way of playing. He just needed to recover some important players who were mentally and physically tired,” Tardelli argued.

The analysis also stressed that the return to form is not yet complete, with one key figure still searching for his best level.
“Everything seems to be back as before but we are waiting for a midfielder like Barella, who is not yet the player we know,” he added.
Tardelli closed by underlining that the positives go beyond the pitch:
“The good news, besides the field, also comes from the financial side, which is positive after difficult years. An example to follow for Italian football.”
Inter are currently preparing for their next game as they host Cremonese at San Siro on Saturday afternoon.
