Inter Milan talisman Hakan Calhanoglu ran the show in tonight’s scintillating 3-0 home victory over Fiorentina.

Speaking to Sky Sport via FCInterNews, the skilled midfielder hailed Inter’s mental fortitude.

Unfazed by a turbulent summer, Hakan Calhanoglu has been on another level this season.

Tonight, he scored his second Serie A brace this term, including an all-important opening goal from long range.

Furthermore, the 31-year-old converted yet another spot-kick to seal Inter’s emphatic victory in front of a sold-out San Siro.

In doing so, the Turkish playmaker took his seasonal tally to five league goals, drawing level with Riccardo Orsolini at the top of the scoring charts.

Meanwhile, summer signing Petar Sucic opened his Serie A account, scoring a phenomenal solo goal to double Inter’s lead.

Curiously, all three goals came after the break.

That’s largely thanks to David de Gea, who pulled off several outstanding saves in the first half.

Indeed, the Spanish veteran denied Alessandro Bastoni’s close-range shot before thwarting Federico Dimarco’s volley with a stunning leg save.

“Everyone who plays for Inter knows that the objectives are always big,” Calhanoglu admitted. “So we want to fight to achieve them because the team deserves it, especially since it was a bit difficult at the beginning, after the World Cup experience.

“However, we came back really well, with the coach giving us great help. Mentally, we’re very strong.”

Then, Calhanoglu praised Cristian Chivu for keeping his squad focused and motivated.

“He didn’t just give us motivation, but the discipline to maintain it,” the Turkish ace added.

Despite returning to winning ways in style, Inter cannot afford to get complacent.

Indeed, Chivu’s charges will take on perennial strugglers Hellas Verona in another must-win league clash on Sunday.
