Inter Milan head coach Cristian Chivu praised his team’s focus, energy, and passion following their dominant 4-1 win over Cremonese at San Siro, reserving special praise for Ange-Yoan Bonny on his first start for the club.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, with quotes via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri boss highlighted the group’s mentality and hunger to keep improving.

“I liked our approach to the game,” Chivu explained.

“The desire to press immediately after losing the ball, the quality in our play, the passion we showed – those are things that make a team grow.

“Cremonese started the season well, and we respected them by treating this as a real match.”

Chivu also reflected on Ange-Yoan Bonny’s excellent full debut, where the young French striker scored and assisted three goals.

“I have two experienced strikers in Marcus and Lautaro, and two young ones, Bonny and Esposito, who are earning the respect of their teammates,” he said.

“We needed their quality on the pitch.

“Bonny was waiting for his moment and today, with a motivated team around him, he was able to show his best.”

Chivu: “I Wanted Angry Players – Dumfries Was One Of Them”

Asked about Denzel Dumfries’ reaction after being substituted, Chivu smiled: “I wanted angry players, and I got them.

“If he was angry, that’s fine. He left with a bag full of Inter shirts: if he was mad, I’m happy! That’s the objective.”

He also underlined the team’s growing intensity off the ball: “I liked our pressing, the desire to stay in their half and dominate,” Chivu continued.

“They play with aggression and courage, without fear of losing shape or depth. They’re learning when and where to press, and lately they’ve been doing it very well.”

Unlike many coaches, Chivu welcomed the upcoming international break.

“No, I don’t curse it: I’ll enjoy it,” he said.

“I’m happy my players go to represent their countries, I know what it means because I’ve been there myself. It’s an honour for them.

“Those who stay will get a few days off before we head to Libya.”

Finally, the Romanian looked ahead to Inter’s friendly with Atletico Madrid during the break, where several U23s will feature.

“We’ll go with about 20 players. Some youngsters will join, and they’ll have the honour of representing Inter. But they mustn’t treat it as a friendly: they need to see it as a real match.”

Chivu left the conference satisfied, reflecting on a near-perfect performance: a team “playing with passion, intelligence, and joy.”
