Inter Milan and Atalanta have joined Napoli in considering a move for out-of-favour Liverpool forward Federico Chiesa.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper La Stampa, via FCInterNews. They report that any club in Serie A would, however, require Liverpool to cover part of Chiesa’s wages.
Chiesa joined Liverpool from Juventus during the summer transfer window prior to this season.
The 27-year-old made the switch after it had become very clear that he was not part of the Bianconeri’s plans.
The hopes were that a move to the Premier League would revive Chiesa’s best form.
However, so far that is far from how it’s turned out for Chiesa. The former Fiorentina forward has made just four appearances for the Reds to date. And only one of these has come in the league.
Considering this utter lack of playing time at Anfield, Chiesa could search for a new club as early as this month.
And a return to Serie A would be the likeliest destination for the 27-year-old.
Napoli have already made their interest in bringing Chiesa back to the Italian top flight clear.
However, reports La Stampa, it is not just the Partenopei.
Inter and Atalanta have also both sounded out a move for Chiesa.
However, for any of Napoli, Inter, or Atalanta, Chiesa’s wages would be a problem. The Italian international earns €7.5 million net per season at Atalanta.
That would be too high for any club in Serie A.
Therefore, if an Italian club were to sign Chiesa, they could ask the Reds to cover part of the forward’s salary.
