The future of Carboni looks to be one of the major question marks around Inter’s summer transfer window.

The 19-year-old spent last season on loan with Monza. There, he got his first regular experience playing senior football.

It was a very positive season of growth from Carboni. He became a regular in the Brianzoli starting eleven over the course of the campaign.

But Inter now have a decision to make.

Carboni does not have a place in the Nerazzurri’s first team plans next season. He will either go out on another loan – or leave for good.

Inter Could Loan Carboni Back To Monza After Marseille Sign Greenwood

There has been a fair bit of interest in signing Carboni on a permanent basis this summer.

All of Fiorentina, Atalanta, and Lazio have been linked with the teenage attacking midfielder.

But Marseille had been the team with the strongest interest in signing the Argentine, seemingly.

However, none of those teams have taken the decisive step forward to sign Carboni.

Inter’s asking price certainly has a lot to do with that.

Having rejected a €25 million bid from Fiorentina in January, the Nerazzurri reportedly want no less than €30 million. And in actuality, the price tag is probably closer to €40 million.

Marseille have been in talks for Carboni.

But in the meantime, the French side have completed a deal to sign Mason Greenwood from Manchester United.

The 22-year-old arrives for a fee in excess of €30 million.

Therefore, it is doubtful whether Marseille would have the financial means to sign Carboni at this point.

As such, Inter are leaning towards another loan for the teenager.

The aim would of course be to maximize playing time and continue Carboni’s development.

Then, Inter could either sell the Argentine at a later date for as high a fee as possible – or reintegrate him into the first team as a starting-quality player at no cost.

Accordingly, Tuttosport report, the idea of loaning Carboni back to Monza is very much a possibility.

The environment is already a familiar one for the Argentine. Therefore, it could be ideal for him to continue growing into the senior game without excessive pressure.
