They can either extend the existing setup or invest in a goalkeeper for the medium term.

Vicario, at 29, represents the second option.

He combines age, top-level experience and an already proven trajectory, from Serie A, to the Premier League, to immediate impact.

“He is not a reclamation project,” La Repubblica note, adding that Tottenham want around €30 million and hold no urgency to sell.

That is the central challenge.

Spurs are negotiating from a position of strength.

They will not accept creative deal structures or diluted fees.

Inter must decide whether the goalkeeper position is a genuine priority, because if it is, other areas of spending may need to be scaled back to make the numbers work.

Competition for Vicario’s signature adds further pressure.
