Yann Sommer is leaving Inter Milan when his contract expires this summer, and Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario is the frontrunner to take his place, but the deal will not come cheap, and the Nerazzurri face a significant decision about how to fund it.

According to La Repubblica, via FCInter1908, Inter stand at a “technical and administrative crossroads.”

They can either extend the existing setup or invest in a goalkeeper for the medium term.

Vicario, at 29, represents the second option.

He combines age, top-level experience and an already proven trajectory, from Serie A, to the Premier League, to immediate impact.

“He is not a reclamation project,” La Repubblica note, adding that Tottenham want around €30 million and hold no urgency to sell.

That is the central challenge.

Spurs are negotiating from a position of strength.

They will not accept creative deal structures or diluted fees.

Inter must decide whether the goalkeeper position is a genuine priority, because if it is, other areas of spending may need to be scaled back to make the numbers work.

An Italian goalkeeper of his calibre, ready to win immediately, naturally attracts multiple suitors.

If a bidding war develops, Spurs’ leverage only grows.

Inter must move decisively or risk losing their top target entirely.

“Vicario is not a suggestion,” Repubblica conclude. “He is a file that forces a concrete choice.”
