Inter will meet Bodø/Glimt in the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League play-off round, and history offers the Nerazzurri a reason for confidence.

Inter finished tenth in the league phase, while the Norwegian champions secured 23rd place with nine points to book their spot.

The tie presents an intriguing clash of traditions. Inter carry vast European pedigree, while Bodø/Glimt represent one of the continent’s fastest-rising clubs.

However, this will not be the first time the sides have crossed paths on the European stage, as noted by FCInter1908.

Inter and Bodø/Glimt previously met in the 1978/79 Cup Winners’ Cup round of 16. The Norwegians made their San Siro debut in that tie, but the contest quickly turned one-sided.

Inter, coached by Eugenio Bersellini, dominated the first leg in Milan and ran out 5–0 winners.

Evaristo Beccalossi opened the scoring, Alessandro Altobelli struck a hat-trick, and Domenico Muraro added the fifth.

The return leg followed a similar pattern despite an early scare. Bodø/Glimt briefly took the lead on home soil, but Inter responded with authority.

Altobelli converted from the penalty spot before Giuseppe Scanziani sealed a 2–1 victory on the night.

That historical precedent will not decide this modern tie, but it underlines Inter’s experience in handling unfamiliar northern opposition.
