Inter Milan newcomer Mehdi Taremi has been a popular figure at Giuseppe Meazza, even before his telling performance against Red Star Belgrade.

During his interview with UEFA’s official channels, as reported by FCInterNews, the Iranian hailed a ‘family atmosphere’ inside the Nerazzurri dressing room.

Mehdi Taremi, who joined Inter from Porto as a free agent in the summer, had to wait until Tuesday evening for his first goal in the black-white jersey.

Captain Lautaro Martinez gave him the ball to take the penalty as a reward for his brilliant effort earlier in the game.

Indeed, the 32-year-old was the architect behind Inter’s multi-goal margin triumph against the Serbian club.

He forced two high turnovers before setting up Marko Arnautovic and Martinez for the goals.

When the latter drew a penalty in the 81st minute, he handed Taremi the ball. And the Iranian repaid his captain’s trust with the goal.

After the game, the experienced goal-getter talked to the press.

Obviously, he was ecstatic about his breakthrough.

“It was a great night for me, I’m happy to have scored,” Taremi opened up. “It was my first goal with Inter and I’m happy with it.

“From the beginning, we pushed them backward trying to take advantage of their mistakes.

“I was able to take advantage of a couple of opportunities and we scored.”

After that, he moved on to discuss relationships between Inter players.

“Here we are a family, we give our best for each other. That’s the thing that matters in our team,” Taremi pointed out.

Last night’s performance must have been the ultimate confidence boost for the Iranian star.

However, he’d likely return to the bench on Saturday when Inter take on Torino at home.

Marcus Thuram should regain his place in the starting XI at Taremi’s expense.
