Inter Milan legend Beppe Bergomi has encouraged the club to seriously consider bringing Aleksander Stankovic back to San Siro after his standout season with Club Brugge.
The Serbian midfielder has attracted attention across Europe, with Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund reportedly monitoring his progress.
However, Bergomi believes Inter must not lose sight of their former academy talent, via FCInter1908.
“I commentated on Club Brugge-Atletico Madrid, and my focus was on Stankovic,” Bergomi said on Sky Sport.
“Is he someone to bring back to Italy? Yesterday he played a bit like Sucic, tidy, technically clean, he didn’t put a foot wrong, even if he didn’t show many bursts of acceleration.”

Stankovic has quickly become a key figure in Belgium since his arrival from Inter on a permanent move last summer.
However, the Nerazzurri were smart to include a buyback clause – that the club may well make full use of.
The former defender highlighted Stankovic’s development curve.
“In the Belgian league he’s number one for accelerations and shots from distance. You can see the character, the personality. He started in the Inter academy, where I coach.”
With a buy-back clause active this summer and again in 2027, Bergomi stressed that “Inter will have to decide what to do,” hinting that the time to act may be approaching.
However, Stankovic has offered a lot with Club Brugge and may slot in nicely into an ageing Inter Milan midfield.
