Alessandro Altobelli says that he’s “never seen Inter Milan look so bad” under Simone Inzaghi as in their 3-0 loss to Fiorentina.
The legendary former Nerazzurri striker gave a scathing review in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter did not just lose to Fiorentina on Thursday evening.
The Nerazzurri were on the receiving end of an out-and-out rout.
While slip-ups and dropping points is a part of life in Serie A, that kind of a result was certainly a shock.
Moreover, there was nothing harsh or unfair about the scoreline. Inter Milan fully deserved their first loss by a margin of three goals since 2019.
And that also came against a team who were missing a raft of senior players due to injury and other reasons.
Former Inter striker Altobelli lamented, “That was the worst I’ve seen this team.”
Asked if he meant this season, he explained “Yeah, but you also wouldn’t be wrong to broaden the discussion to the entire time Inzaghi has been in charge.”

“Since Simone’s been on the bench, I’ve never seen the Nerazzurri look so bad,” Altobelli said.
“They were lacking everything. Mentally, tactically, physically.”
The former striker also diagnosed the problem as, above all, “the physical condition” of the team.
“And you have to keep an eye on it, because that decline didn’t come out of nowhere in Florence.”
“It was already something I noticed in the derby,” said Altobelli. “Inzaghi’s players always seemed to be late to arrive to the ball compared to Milan.”
“It could be the case that it’s because Inter have played a lot of matches,” he went on.
“They’re coming off the back of a busy month.”
“But we’re talking about a key point in the season,” insisted the former striker. “We need to grit our teeth and find our energy again, and not risk losing any more ground.”
