Inter Milan are on the brink of securing a coveted top-eight finish in the newly formatted league phase of the UEFA Champions League.
Per Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, they’re only a point away from locking down automatic Round-of-16 qualification.
Simone Inzaghi has masterminded a near-faultless league-phase campaign.
Indeed, the reigning Scudetto holders have only dropped points twice in the opening seven rounds.
Except for a late heartbreak at Bayer Leverkusen, Inter have avoided defeat in all six remaining matches.
More importantly, five of those six games ended in victories, including a 2-1 triumph at Sparta Prague last week.
As a result, Inter will only need a point in tomorrow’s home clash against Monaco to progress as top-eight finishers.
Despite missing the likes of Hakan Calhanoglu, Inzaghi’s charges are well-positioned to get the job done.

Indeed, the Italian champions have gone into overdrive since returning from Saudi Arabia empty-handed.
A 2-2 home draw against Bologna in Serie A remains the only blemish on a near-perfect post-Supercoppa record.
Inter have won four other matches since losing to AC Milan, including two of the last three via multi-goal margins.
That makes for good reading as they bid to round up a stellar league-phase journey on a high.
