Inter Milan president Beppe Marotta explained the club’s stance on rumored target Nicola Zalewski and exit-linked Davide Frattesi.

Speaking to Sky Sport ahead of Inter’s match against Monaco via FCInterNews, Marotta played down Frattesi’s quit talks.

Frattesi reportedly handed a transfer request earlier in January after growing tired of his bit-part role in the team.

Aware of the player’s torrid status at Giuseppe Meazza, Roma had tried to broker his return but to no avail.

Indeed, Simone Inzaghi has blocked the move. More importantly, he has recently reinstated the 25-year-old.

Meanwhile, Tajon Buchanan is on the verge of joining Villarreal on loan with an option to buy.

His departure would leave Inzaghi strapped for options on the flank.

Therefore, the reigning Serie A champions are in the market for a new wingback.

Roma’s Zalewski has emerged as a concrete target for the Nerazzurri.

In addition to the Pole, Fiorentina castaway Cristiano Biraghi is another alternative.

“Our evaluations concern players who haven’t found much space in the first half of the season.

“We’re looking for a young profile who can integrate seamlessly without disrupting the squad’s balance; we have a solid foundation that gives us confidence.

“We’re exploring all possibilities.

“As for Frattesi, I repeat: he is not for sale.

“The Roma rumors never materialized, and at this moment, there is no discussion.”

On the other hand, Inter must take a point against Monaco to secure automatic Round-of-16 qualification.

“We want to achieve the maximum, setting aside financial considerations,” Marotta said.

“Our focus is on solidifying and maintaining our position – that’s what we have in mind.

“The financial aspect is important, but it’s not the priority,” he concluded.
