Marco Materazzi reflected on a career filled with iconic moments, including the unforgettable Treble triumph in 2010.

Indeed, the 52-year-old was part of the Nerazzurri team that achieved history under Jose Mourinho 16 years ago.

Furthermore, he devoted the best years of his playing career to San Siro, where he played between 2001 and 2011.

During that period, he won 14 major trophies, including five consecutive Serie A titles between 2006 and 2010.

Known for his leadership skills and commitment, Materazzi became a legend at Inter.

Despite graduating from Lazio’s youth academy, Materazzi never featured for the Biancocelesti at the senior level.

Meanwhile, he also enjoyed two memorable stints at Perugia, a club that remains close to his heart.

It’s also worth noting that he earned 41 caps for Italy, helping his country win the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

“I kissed only three shirts, those of the teams I feel most attached to,” Materazzi confirmed. “With the national team, we all know what we achieved; with Inter, I experienced both good and bad moments.

“We lost the Scudetto on the final day, but we managed to close the circle by winning the Treble with the same teammates from that 2002 disappointment. If you persevere, in the end, you achieve what you want.

“Perugia allowed me to reach the national team. When I was called up for the first time, I felt inadequate; I called my wife to come get me because I wasn’t myself. But then I played a great match, and that’s where it all started.”
