Inter Milan stars Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Stefan de Vrij are feeling great at San Siro despite ongoing uncertainty surrounding their long-term futures.
During the latest episode of the ‘Wheel Talks,’ the Nerazzurri veterans opened up on their experiences at the club, via FCInterNews.
Stefan de Vrij joined Inter from Lazio in 2018. He went on to win two Serie A titles with the 20-time Italian champions.
Indeed, he was part of Inter’s title-winning squads in 2020/21 and 2023/24, playing a prominent role in both campaigns.
However, his contract at San Siro expires in June.
With Inter unwilling to offer him a new deal, the 34-year-old is expected to leave as a free agent in the summer.
Despite finding himself in a similar situation, Henrikh Mkhitaryan could still earn a short-term contract extension.
Though he is already 37, the Armenian veteran remains one of Inter’s most consistent performers.
Therefore, it’s hard to exclude the former Roma star from the club’s plans moving forward.
Still, Inter are likely to make a final decision only at the end of the season.
“My highlights are tied to winning the Scudetto, to the titles I’ve won,” Mkhitaryan said. “Obviously, I can say that every moment as a footballer is a fantastic moment for me.”
Meanwhile, De Vrij added: “Fortunately, at Inter, after many years of hard work, I’ve been able to win. It’s a great feeling, and we aim to win even more.”
Asked what Inter means to him, De Vrij replied: “We’ve been here for many years and we feel very comfortable, with the fans and in the dressing room.”
“Everything revolves around Inter. We’re happy to be here and to be part of this story, this club, and this special team where you feel at home from day one.
“Personally, I felt at home right away,” Mkhitaryan finished.
