Inter Moving Further and Further Way from Adding David

Inter were one of the first teams to track Jonathan David once it became apparent that he’d leave Lille on a free, but there don’t appear to be the premises to strike a deal due to a few factors on both sides, Tuttomercatoweb informs.

He’d be a pricey addition even though he’ll be out of contract due to his wage requests and the commissions. He’d be more expensive than the Nerazzurri manager thought. The marksman is 24, so Oaktree’s supposed veto on signing veterans doesn’t apply. On the other hand, the owners would rather keep the payroll in check, prioritizing the players already in the squad.

David has reservations about joining Inter in the first place due to his prospective role. Lautaro Martinez renewed his contract not too long ago, and there are no hints about a possible departure of Marcus Thuram, although his €85M release clause is a looming threat. He’d come in as the third option.

Instead, the center-forward is looking for a team where he’d be very prominent right away given the numbers he’s put up in recent campaigns. He has also been linked to Juventus, which have more uncertainty up front, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich.

Our Take on Inter and David

There might have been something there, but the links were mostly lazy and originated from the Nerazzurri’s habit of chasing top-notch free agents. Plus, they’ll target a different type of striker once they offload their deputies. Timing is of the essence with Bosman additions, so the Old Lady is a real possibility only if they realize early that they won’t be able to keep Dusan Vlahovic.
