Coach Christian Chivu let it be known that Inter are one wing-back short after the friendly against Manchester City, and, after taking their time following a few hiccups, the management has reprised tracking Moussa Diaby, as they had done in January, Sky reports.
The Al-Ittihad star would represent a more offensive-minded option than those the Nerazzurri have eyed this summer, Marco Palestra, Anan Khalaili, and Djed Spence. However, the deal isn’t easy to put together, as he has massive wages.
Inter need an assist from Diaby and his side to successfully orchestrate the acquisition. According to local publication Al-Riyadiyah (via Calciomercato), the Scudetto winners could include Kristjan Asllani in the package. The midfielder is back in Milan following a loan spell at Besiktas and has a €10/15M valuation.
The 27-year-old moved to Saudi Arabia from Aston Villa for €60M in 2024 and has racked up 11 goals and 31 assists in 71 games since. He stayed just one year in Birmingham after coming in from Bayer Leverkusen, where he broke out between 2021 and 2023. He spent a campaign at Crotone a few years back, fresh off PSG’s youth academy, but he made just two short Serie A appearances. The speedster has 11 caps with France under his belt.
They had some loud swings and misses at this position. Perhaps they are working more quietly to avoid the same gaffes again, but it’s odd that they aren’t being more proactive, as it’s their only glaring hole after Denzel Dumfries’ exit. Chivu seems to like an aggressive contributor there, and their latest target would be be an interesting project, but only for the right numbers.
