A year later, Inter are preparing to knock on Trigoria’s door again to bring Manu Koné to Cristian Chivu’s court.
And this time, the Nerazzurri leaders want to avoid a failed attempt by fulfilling the transfer dream of the Romanian coach, the newly crowned Italian champion.
Roma could be tempted by the Frenchman’s potential sale. If they fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League, the Giallorossi could be forced to sacrifice a star player to make a substantial capital gain and put their books in order.
Inter, according to Il Giornale, will be closely monitoring Koné’s Parma-Roma match today with an emissary, a match in which the number 17 is expected to start.
Should a transfer prove necessary, the Roman club hopes to wait until the World Cup and hold a full-blown auction for the Frenchman to maximize his earnings.
Yesterday, on the eve of the match against Parma, Gasperini discussed the potential sale of the midfielder, emphasizing that there are no unsellable players: “In modern football, there is no such thing as unsellable players anywhere. The difference is always made by the financial aspect. When faced with unmissable offers, everyone, except for very few, is unsellable. I’d like to have Koné next season too, but when faced with an unmissable offer, perhaps it can allow you to do other things.”
