Serie A side Inter are set for a meeting with Cristian Chivu today to appoint him as their new manager.

According to a report by Quotidiano Sportivo via TMW, Inter and Cristian Chivu will meet today to discuss the final details of the managerial role. The Nerazzurri diverted their attention to their former player and the current manager of Parma after CEO Piero Ausilio was snubbed by Cesc Fabregas in London.

Inter are set to offer the 44-year-old a two-year contract worth €2.5 million until June 30 2027. Chivu and his entourage travelled to Milan yesterday to progress talks with the Nerazzurri.

The official announcement of Chivu’s appointment could come any time after today’s meeting and his first training session with the squad will be on Monday if things proceed in the right manner.

Inter chose to bet on their former player instead of choosing Patrick Vieira. The first choice for the managerial role following Simone Inzaghi’s departure was Fabregas. When they could not get the Spaniard, Chivu’s name sprang up.
