Lautaro Martinez will not be available for Inter’s trip to Torino, with the club taking a measured approach to his recovery and targeting the home match against Parma on 3 May as the more realistic return date for their captain.

The Argentine has been managing the muscle problem he first sustained during the Champions League playoff against Bodo/Glimt, and while he did return briefly to score a brace against Roma, he subsequently picked up the injury again, prompting Inter to take no chances with their most important player at such a delicate stage of the season.

Crucially, the situation is being handled without any sense of panic, as per FCInter1908’s reports.

No rush for Lautaro as Inter set pretty atop Serie A

Inter’s comfortable position at the top of the table means there is no pressing need to rush Lautaro back before he is fully fit, and those around the club have made clear that the timeline would likely be accelerated only if the Nerazzurri’s standings were more precarious. As things stand, that is simply not the case.

The evidence of recent weeks supports that relaxed approach.

Inter have continued to win without their captain, with Hakan Calhanoglu pulling the strings in midfield and Marcus Thuram enjoying a remarkable run of form, the French forward has scored four goals in his last three league appearances, suggesting the Nerazzurri are more than capable of seeing out the title without needing to risk Lautaro’s long-term fitness.

Inter resume training tomorrow ahead of Sunday’s match at Torino.
