Inter have reportedly decided to keep Francesco Pio Esposito, drop Rasmus Hojlund from Manchester United, and focus on getting Nico Paz from Como instead.
The Nerazzurri have changed their transfer strategy since the departure of coach Simone Inzaghi and arrival of new boss Cristian Chivu.
This also means more of a focus on youth and building value.
Esposito’s performances in the FIFA Club World Cup impressed the club sufficiently to ensure he will not be sent out on loan again, acting as understudy to Lautaro Martinez.
That means Inter are dropping their interest in Hojlund, who Manchester United wanted €45m to sell this summer.

Sport Mediaset and Tuttomercatoweb claim they are instead using those funds to target Nico Paz, who is in a rather curious transfer situation.
The 20-year-old was sold to Como from Real Madrid for €6m, but the Spaniards retained a buy-back option worth €9m that has to be used by June 30.
It is not yet clear if they are prepared to activate it this summer and bring him back to base, or make more by pocketing a 50 per cent cut of the sell-on fee.
If Inter cannot get Nico Paz, they might try to save money yet again by keeping Valentin Carboni after his recovery from a serious injury.
