Inter will be without Yann Bisseck for Sunday’s Serie A clash with Roma after the German defender sustained a muscle strain in his right thigh during the international break, ruling him out of Sunday’s home clash with Roma and the following fixture against Como.
Inter expect him back for the Cagliari match on Friday 17 April at the Meazza.
His absence creates a defensive headache for Cristian Chivu.
To make matters worse, Carlos Augusto is also suspended for the Roma match.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, Acerbi is the favourite to start in the central role.
Meanwhile, with Akanji and Bastoni flanking him as the two wide centre-backs.
Acerbi holds the advantage over De Vrij for the spot.
However, there is better news on the Mkhitaryan front.
The Armenian has returned to full fitness and Chivu will include him in the squad on Sunday.
Although he is expected to start on the bench.
It will be a particularly poignant occasion for Mkhitaryan, who faces his former club Roma at San Siro.
With Inter six points clear at the top and Roma pushing hard for Champions League qualification, Sunday’s match carries enormous weight for both sides.
