A swathe of Manchester City stars were in action for their national teams as October’s international break came to an end on Tuesday.

Starting with England’s meeting with Australia, Alex Greenwood played the final half an hour and Laura Blindkilde Brown and Khiara Keating were unused substitutes at Pride Park as the Lionesses recorded a 3-0 win.

Sarina Wiegman’s side took the lead through Aggie Beever-Jones shortly after former City defender Alanna Kennedy was sent off for the Matildas.

Lucy Bronze then doubled England’s lead before the interval and Georgia Stanway’s penalty rounded off the scoring in the closing stages.

In the evening’s first match, Ayaka Yamashita, Yui Hasegawa and Aoba Fujino all started for Japan as they fell to a 2-0 defeat to Norway.

Risa Shmizu, who’s currently on loan at Liverpool, also played 82 minutes.

The European nation took the lead on 28 minutes when Signe Gaupset opened the scoring in the international friendly before they doubled their advantage shortly after the break with forward bagging her brace.

Meanwhile, Laura Wienroither’s Austria secured a 2-0 win over Czech Republic with the City defender an unused substitute in a Nations League play-off.

During Scotland’s meeting with Switzerland, Iman Beney started for the Swiss and scored their second goal in an eventful game which ended 4-3 to the away side.

City’s versatile forward collected the ball behind the hosts’ backline and coolly slotted into the back of the net.

At Gofferstadion, Vivianne Miedema started for hosts Netherlands as they beat Jade Rose’s Canada 1-0 - who selected City’s defender from the off.

Lym Wils opened the scoring for Arjan Veurink’s side which represented the game’s only goal as Kerstin Casparij remained among the substitutes.

In the closing match of the evening, Sydney Lohmann was a second-half substitute for Germany as Christian Wuck’s drew 2-2 to France away from home.
