It was a busy evening of international action for four Nerazzurri players in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Both the Netherlands and Poland came away with wins in Group G, moving joint-top on 10 points.
Ronald Koeman’s Netherlands, with De Vrij and Dumfries in the squad, won 3-2 away to Lithuania. Depay and Timber put the Dutch two goals up before Gineitis and Girdvainis drew the hosts level. The decisive strike came late on, with Dumfries assisting Depay for the winner. The Nerazzurri wing-back played the full 90 minutes, while Stefan de Vrij featured for 62 minutes.
Poland also celebrated a win, with Zielinski marking his 100th cap by providing an assist in a 3-1 victory over Finland. Ahead of kick-off, the midfielder was presented with a commemorative shirt, and he went on to play the entire match. After Cash’s opener, Zielinski set up Lewandowski for the second, with Kamiński adding a third before Källman pulled one back late on.
Elsewhere, Calhanoglu featured for 68 minutes as Turkey endured a heavy 6-0 defeat against Spain. Merino scored a hat-trick, Pedri added a brace, and Ferran Torres completed the decisive win.
