Serie A giants Inter faced the real possibility of losing Alessandro Bastoni to Barcelona some months ago. This was right after their Champions League elimination at the hands of Bodo/Glimt but things have now changed.

The Italian has now won the Serie A and the Coppa Italia in a matter of weeks. La Gazzetta dello Sport report that this is making him increasingly consider a stay at Inter.

He has been left moved by the affection offered by the Nerazzurri fans in recent weeks too. His desire to leave Inter is now diminishing. Even if Barcelona are still interested and he could well be interested if an agreement between the clubs is reached, he will not push for a transfer actively

He would be more than happy to stay and keep competing at the highest level at Inter.

Inter stay will benefit Serie A

Bastoni is one of the best defenders in the world right now, despite his ups and downs this season. He has actually fought through brilliantly, which says a lot about his temperament.

And that is why he should stay in Serie A, which could lose brand value if Bastoni joins Barcelona. Inter won’t have problems finding a replacement but he is one of the pillars of the club and he is the very hallmark of the club.

Even tactically, Bastoni is best in a back three. Inter suits him from that perspective and he might find himself in strange waters in Barcelona.
