The former Ipswich captain has endorsed Charlton's move for the right-back
Harry Clarke has gone out on a mid-season loan once again, this time linking up with Charlton Athletic until the end of the season.
The 24-year-old has endured a tough 2025, which started with a loan spell at Sheffield United last term. Unfortunately, he played just six times and had his loan cut short due to a recurring foot injury towards the end of the campaign.
Then, after a knee injury took him out of pre-season back in Ipswich, he was unable to break back into the side upon his return in September, and now heads to the Valley in the hopes of getting some much-needed playing time.
Clarke, like many involved in Ipswich's miraculous back-to-back promotion campaigns from League One to the Premier League, is a cult hero at Portman Road, but, also like many of those promotion heroes, has been slowly phased out as Kieran McKenna's side looks to progress from an underdog outfit to one expected to challenge atop the Championship and in the top flight.
But that doesn't mean that he isn't still loved by the fanbase and the squad he enjoyed a couple of brilliant years on the pitch with, and his captain, Sam Morsy, reacted to his move to the Addicks positively.

With Charlton announcing the arrival of Clarke at the Valley on loan until the end of the season yesterday, fans gathered on Instagram to react in the comments section.
Among those fans was someone a little more high profile: Sam Morsy, who captained Ipswich during their rise to the Premier League.
The Egyptian midfielder still clearly holds the 24-year-old in high regard, calling Clarke the "Suffolk Cafu," likening him to the legendary two-time World Cup-winning Brazilian right-back.
With plenty of likes, both Charlton and Ipswich fans are happy to see the reaction, and if the Ipswich-born full-back can replicate even close to the performances of the 55-year-old, Nathan Jones and co will be delighted.
Clarke's experience and pedigree at the top-end of the Championship could be vital at a side currently battling against relegation to League One, and Ipswich supporters and Clarke's ex-teammates alike will both be keeping one eye on his stint at the Valley for the remainder of the campaign.

Evidently, Ipswich fans will love this little interaction between two former teammates, who have found their feet back in the Championship following their departures from Portman Road - Clarke, albeit on loan.
Morsy now turns out for Bristol City following a brief stint playing for Kuwait SC, and he and Clarke are even more examples of the heroes of the Ipswich squad of two seasons ago lining out for fellow Championship sides.
The likes of Massimo Luongo, Cameron Burgess, Luke Woolfenden, Conor Chaplain and Nathan Broadhead, plus more, all line up for different clubs in the second tier, and every time Ipswich face off with them, their fans are reminded of the good times they all spent together following those players a few years ago.
But it's clearly not just the fans who remember those promotion years, as the players themselves are still evidently close to each other due to the successes they achieved together.
