Al Shabab have offered Josh Brownhill in excess of £100k a week as they look to beat Ipswich, Southampton and Leicester to his signature.

Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Shabab have offered Josh Brownhill a contract in excess of £100,000 a week as they look to see off competition from English clubs - including a Championship trio - to land the midfielder.

The 29-year-old enjoyed the best season of his career last time out, as he scored 18 goals to help Burnley to automatic promotion from the Championship, with Brownhill hugely influential for Scott Parker’s side in the middle of the park.

However, with his contract expiring, there were doubts about his long-term future, and Brownhill decided to leave Turf Moor to pursue other opportunities.

But, to the surprise of many, he remains without a club despite a few weeks of the season already being played - that could soon be about to change though.

Josh Brownhill transfer latest as Al Shabab make lucrative offer for Ipswich, Leicester & Southampton target

Of course, there has been plenty of speculation surrounding Brownhill’s next destination, with Ipswich, Southampton and Leicester having all been credited with an interest by Sky Sports reporter James Savundra.

Yet, it appears a switch to Saudi could be on the cards, as Savundra has also revealed that Al-Shabab - who finished sixth of 18 in the Saudi Pro League last season - have made a big-money offer to Brownhill, which is said to be worth upwards of £100,000 per week.

The update adds that Brownhill is ‘considering’ this offer, but it’s stated that he has also held talks with two unnamed Premier League clubs, as well as having interest from all three clubs in Ipswich, Leicester and Southampton that were relegated from the top flight last season, and they have all had mixed starts to the current campaign back in the second tier.

Josh Brownhill would be a huge coup for any Championship club - that looks unlikley now though

It goes without saying that if Leicester, Ipswich or Southampton could convince Brownhill to drop back to the Championship, then it would be an outstanding bit of business, and arguably the best signing by any club in the division this summer.

As mentioned, he was brilliant for Burnley last season, as he captained them to promotion, scoring 18 goals from midfield, and he was key to the way they played.

So, you would be getting someone who will add leadership qualities to the squad, but, most importantly, he is a major goalscoring threat from midfield, and it’s hard to find players like that.

Clearly, it’s not going to be an easy deal to do, and no club in the second tier will be able to get anywhere near the money that Al-Shabab have put on the table for Brownhill, so it’s going to be a tempting offer for the ex-Bristol City man.

Ultimately, Brownhill has been without a club for months now, so he will want his future sorted, and it’s down to him to make a decision at a crucial period in his career.
