It is no secret that Manchester City are in the market for another attacking player to complete Pep Guardiola’s squad for the 24/25 season. After Julian Alvarez departed the club for Atletico Madrid it appears to be the one area in City’s squad that could do with reinforcement. But the champions are running out of time before they could add another striker to their squad. A new report indicates that Icelandic sensation Orri Oskarsson is a potential target for the champions. But would they move for the 19-year-old? That appears an unlikely scenario.

David Ornstein has reported for The Athletic that Manchester City have considered a move for FC Copenhagen striker Orri Oskarsson. Ornstein adds with 7 goals in his first 11 games of the season, Oskarsson has caught the eye of a host of clubs, including Manchester City. Furthermore, Ornstein adds that FC Porto and Real Sociedad have shown an interest in signing Orri Oskarsson. Lastly, Ornstein reports that it is unlikely that City will make a move for Oskarsson this summer.

Orri Oskarsson fits the profile of a potential Manchester City signing but a move by City for the young striker appears unlikely.

There is no doubt that Orri Oskarsson is quickly becoming one of the hottest young attacking prospects in European football. He has started the new season in sparkling form for FC Copenhagen. That form has seemingly caught the eye of Manchester City and a host of other clubs. But while Oskarsson ticks the boxes of a typical City signing it doesn’t appear to be a likely move from the world champions.

David Ornstein reports that it is unlikely that City will move for the FC Copenhagen starlet. It doesn’t appear that the champions will be looking to add another young player to Pep Guardiola’s squad. A more experienced striker appears to be a better option to add to City’s squad. Ornstein adds that Kyogo Furuhashi is a potential target for the champions. With his experience and proven pedigree at Celtic the Japanese international appears to be a better fit for the Manchester City squad. It just remains to be seen if the champions will attempt to sign Kyogo Furuhashi this week.

As a player there is no doubting the talent and potential of Orri Oskarsson. He is looming as one of the brightest young attacking prospects in European football. But as Ornstein reports and on closer inspection a City move for the young striker appears unlikely at this stage.
