Manchester United have seemingly shifted their focus to an attacker after facing a setback in their pursuit of a midfielder.
United spent months chasing Mateus Fernandes, but their reluctance to meet West Ham’s exorbitant demands allowed Tottenham Hotspur to seal the deal for the Portuguese midfielder.
The midfield remains the biggest area of concern, but it appears United have stepped up their efforts to bring in a versatile attacker.
According to TEAMtalk, Manchester United are showing “a strong interest” in Crystal Palace star Ismaila Sarr.
It is understood United began the transfer window with plans to recruit a versatile forward, and Sarr is viewed internally as a player who fits that profile perfectly.
The Senegal international mainly operates on the right flank for the Eagles, but at the World Cup he impressed as a striker for his country, scoring four goals and registering an assist in North America.
Sarr played a pivotal role in Palace’s UEFA Conference League triumph, finishing the competition with nine goals and being voted the tournament’s Player of the Season.
It is claimed that his performances have not gone unnoticed at Old Trafford.
TEAMtalk reports that United have now made contact with the 28-year-old’s representatives to “register their interest and gather further information about his situation.”
“Sources indicate the 28-year-old was already firmly on United’s radar before the World Cup, but his performances in North America have only strengthened the club’s admiration,” the report adds.
Sarr moved to South London in 2024 for a fee of less than £15 million from Olympique de Marseille.
However, it is believed Palace would expect to more than triple that investment if they were to entertain offers for their explosive winger, who has three years remaining on his current contract.
