FC Barcelona delivered a resounding 6-0 victory over Valencia in their latest La Liga clash, leaving the opposition humiliated and their coach, Carlos Corberan, visibly frustrated.
Speaking to the media after the match, as quoted by AS, Corberan admitted that Barcelona dominated the key moments of the game, highlighting his team’s inability to compete effectively in crucial situations:
“FC Barcelona outperformed us in second balls and duels. When we managed to get into the game, they scored the first goal. We were defensively compact and shifting well. We couldn’t defend the second goal. From the third goal onwards, the team collapsed. We fell apart.”
The heavy defeat was a clear reflection of Valencia’s struggles throughout the match. Corberan emphasized that his team simply failed to meet the required standard:
“When you concede so many goals, it’s because we haven’t been competitive. We weren’t up to standard as a team at any point. It was a bad game and, as a consequence, the result.”
The second half, in particular, was disastrous for Valencia. Corberan singled out the impact of Raphinha’s introduction by Barcelona, suggesting it contributed to Valencia losing all momentum:
“Raphinha came onto the field. We conceded two goals, and the rest was just momentum and lack of motivation.”

After suffering 7-1 and 5-0 defeats, this 6-0 loss also marked the third consecutive game in 2025 in which Corberan was unable to find a way to stop Hansi Flick’s Barcelona. Reflecting on this, he added:
“We have not represented Valencia in the way we want. It is a responsibility I carry as a coach. I want to see a version of the team that we didn’t see today. The team’s game plan didn’t work. I have not been able, for the third time, to stop Barcelona.”
Corberan was highly critical of his team’s tactical execution, highlighting defensive errors and a lack of offensive threat:
“We didn’t compete well tactically. We lost too many second balls, and we should have avoided being caught offside. We played too defensively.”
As for Hansi Flick and his team, they have a lot to look forward to. Up next for them is a trip to England to face off against Newcastle United in the UEFA Champions League, and that is surely a game that they will be thoroughly excited for.
