Italian journalist Fabio Caressa offered his assessment of Inter Milan’s spectacular win over Torino as Cristian Chivu enjoyed a superb start.

Speaking on his YouTube channel via FCInter1908, Caressa delivered his verdict on last night’s 5-0 victory at San Siro.

Cristian Chivu replaced Simone Inzaghi at the helm in June after the Italian manager took charge of Al-Hilal.

Despite failing to progress beyond the first knockout round at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, Chivu impressed in his Serie A debut.

Indeed, the Nerazzurri thrashed Torino on home turf to announce their Scudetto candidacy in style.

Furthermore, Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez were both on the scoresheet.

Their return to form could be a decisive factor in Inter’s title charge this term.

However, a collective effort was the most important thing.

Inter looked like a team again, responding well to last season’s heartbreak and Inzaghi’s sudden departure.

“Inter were very good,” Caressa stated. “The 5-0 win over Torino also has an emotional meaning, after the Champions League final.

“It’s a new cycle reopening with certainties and new players. I didn’t put Sucic in my top XI, but he played really well.

“Bonny and Esposito can give much more up front than Arnautovic, Correa, and Taremi. So, Inter were excellent.

“I saw a team that Chivu has already changed, but one that remains physical and technical, probably set to press opponents aggressively on the ball carriers.”

Meanwhile, he defended Inzaghi.

“However, I heard some things I didn’t like very much,” he added.

“Some said that the team is working more physically, as if Inzaghi hadn’t done anything.

“Maybe now they’re working differently, but we must be careful not to underestimate Inzaghi’s work, because he relied on data that allowed for rotation.

“It’s not that he didn’t make the team work; those were numbers for an older squad.

“Be careful not to throw away Inzaghi’s work, considering how it ended.

“He doesn’t deserve that. And let’s also not get carried away by yesterday’s match.

“Likewise, be careful talking about an Inter-Napoli duel: there are other teams that could get involved.”
