Italian football journalist Marco Bellinazzo has offered his insight into the ownership strategies of Inter and AC Milan.
Speaking to Sky Sport via FCInterNews, Bellinazzo delivered his verdict on RedBird and Oaktree’s long-term plans.
Both Milan clubs are under the control of American investment funds.
Furthermore, Oaktree and RedBird aim to increase the value of the teams before considering a sale.
Indeed, both sides focus on strategic growth, including commercial and infrastructure projects.
A new state-of-the-art stadium in the San Siro area remains a key part of their plans.
Therefore, Inter and Milan have recently acquired the ownership of the land and will soon embark on this monumental project.
In addition to the stadium, American owners are paying close attention to global branding as part of their effort to boost the clubs’ value.
However, Bellinazzo believes they’re doing that with one sole purpose – to maximize the clubs’ market value ahead of a future sale.

“Significant investment will go into this project,” Bellinazzo said. “The designers won’t destroy the popular sections in the best possible layout.
“But the hospitality areas will be priced appropriately, reducing the reliance on lower ticket prices.
“Milan and Inter already have dozens of companies on a waiting list because, at the moment, there isn’t enough space to accommodate them.
“So the first priority will be expanding these corporate areas, and the stadium will ideally be active 24/7, hosting as many events as possible.
“They’ve already made an investment of €1.2–1.4 billion.
“However, it could increase further to generate enough revenue both to pay off debts and to boost income once they clear the financing.
“What will the model be? I look at the Santiago Bernabeu, which can also adapt to host NFL games.
“Surely the designers from Manica and Foster, who have been entrusted with the project, have the ability to create something unique while respecting the San Siro’s model and its distinct character.
“The Curva Sud will be repurposed.
“I hope it will somehow still recall the Meazza. Moreover, the project will revitalize the surrounding area, so its impact will go far beyond match days.”

“Without this intervention, there would have been a risk of not having them in Milan,” Bellinazzo added.
“So this is good news, provided, of course, that they meet the deadlines.
“The shareholders of Milan and Inter are investment funds: they invest, enhance the asset, and then sell.
“It’s clear that the goal over the next few years will be to sell the two clubs, but without rushing, precisely because of the stadium investment underway.
“Once construction begins, they clubs will gain that added value, which will be crucial.
“If the two teams had been put up for sale before the deed was signed, each club would have been worth around €1.5 billion.
“Now, with the deed completed, the value approaches €2 billion per club. So it’s already an excellent deal.”
