Italy sit fifth in the race for an extra Champions League place next season after midweek wins for Juventus and Roma.

According to Football Italia, the position reflects UEFA’s season association coefficient.

In the Champions League, Juventus were the only Italian side to win, beating Jose Mourinho’s Benfica 2-0 as Bremer opened the scoring with a volley. Napoli drew 1-1 with Copenhagen, Inter lost 3-1 to leaders Arsenal, and Atalanta were beaten 3-2 by Athletic Club.

In the Europa League, Roma defeated VfB Stuttgart 2-0 thanks to a Niccolo Pisilli brace. Bologna came from behind to draw 2-2 with Celtic.

As of Friday morning, England lead the standings, followed by Poland, Germany and Spain. The associations that finish this season in the top two will receive an additional Champions League place next term.
