Alessandro Bastoni believes that Inter Milan have “gained credibility” outside Italian football along their run to the Champions League final against PSG.
The 26-year-old gave his thoughts to InterTV, via FCInterNews, ahead of tomorrow’s match.
The Nerazzurri have also been here 24 months ago. They narrowly lost to Manchester City in the 2022-23 edition of the competition.
In between, Inter lost out to Atletico Madrid in the round of sixteen of last season’s Champions League. And in the 2021-22 campaign, they went out to Liverpool at that stage.

All of these high profile matches in Europe have certainly enhanced Inter’s reputation.
Whilst the Nerazzurri have sometimes had mixed performances domestically, in the Champions League they have fully reestablished themselves as a force to be reckoned with.
Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni mused that “in the first final we reached, we went to it more as outsiders.”
“No one believed Inter could reach the Champions League final,” he went on.
“But instead, with the work we’ve done over the last few years, we’ve gained credibility as a team, including outside Italy,” Bastoni said.
“We’ve brought the Inter crest to compete in the final twice in three years in such a big competition. We’re proud.”
Meanwhile, defensively Bastoni declared that “working together is a job that everyone does.”
“The whole team gives us a hand,” said the Italian international.
“Seeing forwards like Lautaro and Thuram helping us out in defense gives us the strength to give more when we get a bit tired,” Bastoni said.
“It’s not a question of defenders. It’s a question of the attitude of the team that helps us.”
Then, Bastoni looked back on the last time Inter reached the Champions League final, and on how it influences this final. “Considering how I reacted in Istanbul, I really hope we win,” he said.,
“Because it would be really bad,” the Italian international admitted.
“We’ve enjoyed our journey up to this point. But what’s already happened has to be erased, because the final is a one-off match and completely different.”
