Arsenal broke an English top-flight record with their 5-1 win over Crystal Palace this weekend, as it was the sixth time in 2024 they’d scored five goals or more in an away game.
No Premier League or First Division side has ever done that in a calendar year, which Mikel Arteta highlighted afterwards.
“I think nobody else has done it, no? Ever. So it is a big achievement,” Arteta said, but he then added: “It’s not a title. So let’s put all these records that this team is achieving into the big things that we want.”

Another record Arsenal achieved on Saturday was a club record for the most Premier League goals scored in a calendar year.
The Gunners previously scored 86 league goals in 2004 and 2009, but they’ve beaten both tallies with their 88 league goals in 2024.
Those goals in 2004 helped Arsene Wenger’s side to win the Premier League title, though they didn’t achieve the same feat in the 2008/09 or 2009/10 seasons despite all the 2009 goals.

Arteta’s side already narrowly missed out on the chance to win the 2023/24 title, but they’ll hope their goals this year have them in contention for this year’s trophy come May.
