On Tuesday, Manchester City confirmed the signing of Gianluigi Donnarumma. The Premier League club agreed to bring in the Italian goalkeeper from PSG for €35 million (£30.3 million) on Monday. Meanwhile, Ederson is moving to Fenerbahçe, according to The Athletic.

Donnarumma is set to take over from Ederson in Pep Guardiola’s squad, with the Brazil international joining Fenerbahçe in a deal reportedly worth around €14 million (£12.1 million).

Moreover, DAZN’s and SportMediaset’s Orazio Accomando also confirmed that Manchester City reached an agreement with PSG to sign Donnarumma for a €35 million fee, with an additional €4 million in add-ons.

While Donnarumma replaces Ederson, another goalkeeper at City is already there, willing to challenge the former PSG standout for minutes between the pipes in James Trafford.

Former Manchester City manager Stuart Pearce was on talkSPORT and stated that Trafford should see the arrival of Donnarumma as a positive since it’s an opportunity to edge out a Champions League and European Cup winner.

“You’ll probably be a little bit disappointed, but you’ve got a top goalkeeper there,” Pearce said. “If I was advising him, I would say, ‘Look, at the age you are at the moment, see this as a positive [when] Donnarumma comes in.’

“You’ve got competition, so you’ve got to up your game. Also, you’ve got two great role models that have been around the block to learn from over the next year or so. I would use it as a positive rather than a negative, if I was him.”
