The winter transfer window came and went with Alexander Isak staying at Newcastle United. While there wasn’t much speculation about a move in January, reports suggest clubs like PSG could make another push for him this summer.
RMC Sport previously reported that PSG was willing to offer Gonçalo Ramos, Randal Kolo Muani, and Marco Asensio in a swap deal to bring Isak to Paris.
Liverpool has also been linked to the Swedish striker. According to Sky Switzerland journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the club has already opened discussions with his representatives.
The Reds were reportedly preparing a major bid for Isak, even willing to step away from their usual transfer strategy to sign the 25-year-old.
Earlier reports indicated that Newcastle had set Isak’s price at €180 million (£150 million), a fee that would make him Liverpool’s record signing, surpassing the £85 million they paid for Darwin Núñez in 2022.

On the It’s Called Soccer podcast, pundits Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher discussed potential destinations for Isak if Newcastle can’t match his expectations.
Gary Neville floated the surprising possibility of Manchester United making a move, even with their struggles and lack of Champions League football. Carragher, however, sees Arsenal and Liverpool as the top contenders for the prolific striker.
“I think the only two options [for Isak] at the moment would be Arsenal and Liverpool as they’re both sort of crying out for a striker,” Carragher said (h/t TEAMtalk).
“I just look at how long he’s got left on his deal and the ball is in Newcastle’s court, it’s not really in Isak’s. I think once you get [down] to two years [on the contract], it’s almost a 50-50, no-one wants to get down to 12 months.
“Newcastle could keep him for another year and say, ‘We’ll see you then as we’re going to get the same sort of money’. I don’t think Newcastle gain anything by selling him now, unless that they had to.
“And that is why, if Newcastle get into the Champions League, there’s no way Isak is leaving the club. I think the club will say, ‘No, do another 12 months and in a year’s time we can make a few quid and you can move on’.”
