Leonardo Jardim’s Flamengo swept past Atlético-MG 4-0 to complete seven consecutive victories, less than two months after his arrival.
As reported by Globo.com, the coach is enjoying a honeymoon period with the club’s supporters.
He has moved beyond predecessor Filipe Luís’s best run, six straight achieved on three occasions, and matched the seven-game sequences recorded by Tite in 2024 and Renato Gaúcho in 2021. Tite’s streak came in Campeonato Carioca fixtures, while Jardim’s spans the Libertadores, the Brasileiro and the Copa do Brasil.
The run comprises, in order, Flamengo 3-1 Santos, Cusco 0-2 Flamengo, Fluminense 1-2 Flamengo, Flamengo 4-1 Independiente Medellín, Flamengo 2-0 Bahia, Flamengo 2-1 Vitória in the Copa do Brasil, and Atlético-MG 0-4 Flamengo.
The next benchmark is Jorge Jesus’s 10 consecutive wins in 2020, Flamengo’s best this century. That sequence included seven Campeonato Carioca matches alongside victories over Independiente del Valle, Junior Barranquilla and Barcelona de Guayaquil.
Historical high-water marks are larger still, with Cláudio Coutinho stringing together 13 straight in 1978–79 and Flávio Costa reaching 15 during the 1942 Carioca campaign.
Jardim could surpass Jorge Jesus if the next four fixtures are all won, three of them away from home. Flamengo visit Estudiantes in the Libertadores on 29 April, then face Vasco at the Maracanã in the Brasileiro on 3 May, travel to Independiente Medellín in the Libertadores on 7 May, and go to Grêmio in the Brasileiro on 10 May.
