La Liga president Javier Tebas has once again aimed a dig at Real Madrid over their objection to the Villarreal vs Barcelona fixture being hosted in Miami.
Despite ongoing debate and mixed opinions surrounding the match being played outside Spain, the league has officially approved the game, which is set to take place in Miami on the weekend of December 20.
Real Madrid, however, have made their stance clear.
The club released an official statement urging FIFA and UEFA not to permit the match to go ahead, arguing that domestic league fixtures should not be staged abroad.
Their opposition has not changed even after the final confirmation, and Tebas did not hesitate to respond to their resistance.
When asked about Real Madrid’s position, the La Liga president said, “Real Madrid do not like anything that La Liga does.
“They can say nothing about this. The match is possible because the clubs want it, the players want it, and the fans want it.”

During the same interview, Tebas was asked if he could ever imagine Real Madrid participating in a La Liga game outside of Spain. His response was direct,
“With their current leaders it’s impossible. They don’t like us or anything that we do.”
Lastly, when pressed about his personal disagreements with club president Florentino Perez, Tebas clarified that he does not view their disputes as battles, stating,
“I don’t fight battles with Florentino. I evaluate what I’m doing. I’ve already said that Florentino never loses, he’s tenacious and very hard-working. I never count him out.
“The Super League was a death foretold. Now there’s a lot of talk about whether they’re talking to UEFA.
“What a coincidence that this story comes out when Barcelona is meeting with the ECA. It’s an attempt to win a battle they’ve already lost,” he concluded.
