Jayden Joseph underlined his promise during a first senior loan at Tranmere, capped by a pivotal 3-1 win at Cheltenham on 21 April that helped secure their Football League status.

"Where we’re from, our fans demand hard work, application and appetite and Jayden displayed all of them," said Tranmere first-team coach Andy Parkinson, speaking to LeicesterMercury.co.uk.

The 20-year-old joined in August after impressing in Leicester’s pre-season, featuring in friendlies under Andy King before Marti Cifuentes’ arrival. He trained with the first team. Signed from Manchester City four years ago, he made 35 Tranmere outings, including 30 league games, scoring in his third match at Newport County before an ankle injury in January led to rehab at Seagrave.

Joseph returned for the run-in, starting the final seven matches and producing a volley that drew comparisons to Marco van Basten. "A dipping Marco van Basten-like volley," said author and broadcaster Matt Jones. Joseph said, "I seen it coming over and I knew I didn't have much time, so I hit it."

With Leicester relegated to League One, attention turns to whether Joseph can stake a claim. "I definitely think he’s ready to step up to League One level," said Jones. Parkinson was more guarded, calling it "difficult for me to say" and adding the drop "might just play into his hands", although he "might need another loan".
