Andrée Jeglertz confirmed Aoba Fujino will miss City’s Barclays Women’s Super League trip to Arsenal due to a concussion.

The Japan international was forced off in our last outing, an emphatic 5-1 win over Chelsea, after suffering the head injury in second-half stoppage time.

Although the Blues will be without the Japan international for the trip to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday 8 February, the club’s Head Coach says there are no additional fitness issues ahead of the clash.

“[The squad]  looks good,” he explained.

“I think we have been training well this week, Aoba [Fujino] got a concussion in the last game and isn’t able to play this weekend.

“But otherwise everyone is as it was last weekend.”

During the precious victory over Chelsea at the Etihad last week, Mary Fowler made her return from an anterior cruciate injury which had kept her sidelined since April 2025.

A second-half substitute, the Australia international played the final 15 minutes of the success as we moved 10 points clear at the WSL’s summit.

But as Fowler reintegrates into matches, Jeglertz stressed the importance of easing her back in to avoid further injuries.

He added: “Of course, it’s not easy to come in and play but also for her to find the right timing of how much we push her, when we modify her and the medical team are important to find that balance for her.

“We can’t just go in and have the same as everyone else, she’s been away for a long time, is now back but it takes time to get to the same level physically and as a player as she was when she got injured.

“She’s in a good way.”
