Jessica Motaung urges Kaizer Chiefs fans to support Bafana Bafana!
Kaizer Chiefs Marketing Director Jessica Motaung has called for unified national support as the South African national team, Bafana Bafana, prepares for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Speaking at the FIFA Twinning Programme held at the Johannesburg Correctional Centre on Wednesday, Motaung emphasized the importance of collective backing for the squad as they aim to surpass their bronze-medal finish from the 2024 tournament. The team is currently in a training camp at the High Performance Centre in Pretoria.
Bafana will play their final warm-up match against Ghana at Dobsonville Stadium on Tuesday before departing for Morocco the following day. The tournament begins on December 21, 2025, and concludes on January 18, 2026. South Africa’s Group B campaign starts against Angola on December 22 at the Grand Stade de Marrakech, followed by a key match against Egypt on December 26 at the Adrar Stadium in Agadir.
Motaung’s appeal for solidarity comes despite Kaizer Chiefs having no players in the final 25-man squad, with only Mduduzi Shabalala named as a standby option. The final selection is largely composed of players from rival clubs Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.
"We are behind them [Bafana] all the way," said Motaung. "I mean, I’m very excited for Bafana. I’m very proud of our team. I will be there cheering them on, and I encourage the entire nation, the Khosi nation, to rally behind the team."
