FC Barcelona had an important La Liga game against Real Oviedo last night at the Spotify Camp Nou, which they needed to win to reclaim their spot at the top of the table. They managed to do just that with a 3–0 win.

Goals from Olmo, Raphinha, and Lamine Yamal in the second half helped the club secure the three points. Towards the end of the game, an intense hailstorm hit the ground, soaking players, managers, and even Joan Laporta.

After the game, as quoted by SPORT, FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta was asked about the hailstorm, and here is what he said:

“We all got wet. We knew it could happen, but in the end, the rain accompanied the victory. It was like witnessing the rain’s baptism at Camp Nou.”

Joan Laporta then spoke about the stadium’s construction and the 1C License:

“The stadium is under construction, and anything that needs to be fixed on the go, we will address. This is normal and will be resolved. The stadium is progressing at a good pace, and everything is moving along. License 1C was supposed to be ready at the start of January, but it has been delayed. Now we’ll see if we have it for the Mallorca match; I haven’t given up yet.”

The Spotify Camp Nou was vociferous last night, displeased with Oviedo’s time-wasting, and the referee’s calls riled up the crowd. The noise was deafening to hear and reminiscent of the stadium’s glory days.

If a stadium at almost half its capacity can create such an atmosphere, just imagine how Camp Nou will feel once Barcelona complete the works and can reach full capacity for a big UEFA Champions League game. We will see how things play out regarding the stadium’s expansion in the months to come.
