Chelsea struggled past minnows Pafos last night in the Champions League, beating the Cypriot side 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.

It wasn’t a great Chelsea performance as they struggled to break down a defence low block, and the first half was particularly poor from Chelsea in attack despite controlling the possession.

EXCL: Latest on Chelsea signing Jeremy Jacquet with deal still ON!!

It needed a very late Moises Caicedo header for Chelsea to finally get the goal in order to go on and win the game, after they huffed and puffed all game long but to no joy.

Fans were complaining about the same thing they have seen time and time again under Enzo Maresca with inverted full backs, lack of overlapping full backs, and an isolated striker. It’s no different to watching Maresca’s Chelsea so far under Liam Rosenior, but perhaps even worse!

But thank god for Moises Caicedo hey? In the end he popped up to grab the crucial goal and stop any boos at the end of the game from the home fans.

Chelsea’s most important player?

Joe Cole believes Caicedo is now Chelsea’s most important player and to be honest, I think he probably has been for a while now anyway. At least in terms of consistency and regular form, he’s been the best.

Cole told TNT Sports that he now thinks the honourof most important player at Chelsea belongs to Caicedo after watching him dominate in midfield against Pafos, as well as find the only goal.

He said: “He’s fast becoming the most important player at this club, and that £100m looks like a snip now.”

Fernandez is playing well too

A shout out for Enzo Fernandez as well, he is playing some consistent stuff lately and becoming very important for the team.
