Johanna Riedler has joined Sturm Graz from Bundesliga 2 side LUV on a dual registration contract, meaning she can still represent LUV throughout the 2026/27 Bundesliga season.

The physical defender represented LUV Graz throughout the 2025/26 season as they finished eighth in the second division of Austrian football, just one point behind FC Pinzgau Saalfelden.

SK Sturm Graz are looking to build on their strong performance last season in the Bundesliga where they finished comfortably in third. With Lilla Sipos already added to the side, the club is making strong preparations for the season ahead.

Johanna Riedler excited for challenges ahead

Talking about the transfer and the season ahead, Riedler expressed her excitement.

“I am very grateful for the opportunity to be part of SK Sturm Graz. At the same time to continue playing for LUV Graz in order to develop myself in the best possible way. I am going into the new season with great motivation and am looking forward to the collaboration and the upcoming challenges.”

Sporting director of women’s football at SK Sturm Graz Michael Erlitz discussed both Riedler and the importance of the dual registration agreement between the two Graz-based clubs.

“The cooperation with LUV Graz is an important building block for us in the development of young players. Johanna has developed very positively in recent years and absolutely deserves this opportunity with her performances. We are delighted to welcome her and are convinced that she will take the next step in her development. At the same time, it is important that she can continue to gain valuable playing experience at LUV. Ultimately, everyone involved benefits from this close cooperation, but above all the players.”

What lies ahead for SK Sturm Graz in 2026?
