The Funeral of Celtic great and Lisbon lion John Clark was held yesterday, and as you’d expect it was well attended in the mass where large numbers flocked from all over the country to pay their last respects to a legendary figure in the history of Celtic Football club and Scottish football.
Celtic supporters of all ages also made their way to Celtic Park to bid a final farewell to a true club legend as the funeral party down the Celtic way past the statue of his former central defensive partner and fellow Lisbon lion Billy McNeill, giving John one final trip to the place that he called Paradise.
Legendary figures such as fellow Lisbon lion Jim Craig, and former club captains Danny McGrain, Tom Boyd Neil Lennon, Scott Brown, as well as some of the present day squad including Kieran Tierney, naturally were all in attendance.
Even our rivals across the city were represented as theRangers CEO Patrick Stewart and scout John Brown paid their respects to the Celtic and Scottish football icon. On days like yesterday, all rivalries are set aside and quite rightly so.
Two greats and well known names in the game Roy Keane and Ian Wright were also present, both of whom had a short spell at the club when John Clark was the kit-man at Celtic, and their presence showed how much they respected the legend and wonderful man that was John Clark.
John had a fantastic bond with the club that spanned eight decades. Whether that be as a player, a coach, assistant manager, or kit man he served the club with great distinction. Rest in peace John Clark. Truly one of a kind.
Sleep well John and thank you once again for your huge contribution to the Celtic story.
