The Lancashire outfit have made two signings this winter, bringing in Dion Sanderson on loan from Birmingham City.

Adam Forshaw has also joined, arriving as a free agent on a short-term deal after his departure from Plymouth Argyle.

Blackburn have until 3 February to make any further reinforcements, with the team chasing a play-off place in the Championship this season.

Eustace has reiterated his desire to see Blackburn strengthen their attacking options this January following their 1-0 loss to Oxford United at the weekend.

He is hopeful something will happen soon, although there is nothing currently imminent as we approach the final two weeks of the window.

“Nothing to report at the moment, not that I’m aware of anyway,” said Eustace, via the Lancashire Telegraph.

“I think something might happen soon but it’s very evident we need to improve the squad.

“We need quality to help the group that have done so well up to now.

“I hope we can start moving towards bringing those couple in.

“We didn’t work that goalkeeper enough [against Oxford].

“I have worked with both players (Placheta and Dembele) and they’re very good players.

“It is what it is.

“The lads have been magnificent, they’re the group we have got.

“I know they’ll do that still between now and the end of the season.

“We want to improve the squad, of course, we do, but if we don’t then they won’t let anyone down.”

Blackburn are currently fifth in the Championship table after 27 games played, with 42 points.

Yuki Ohashi and Andreas Weimann are the team's joint top scorers, with five each in the league.

Oxford United loss will be wake-up call for Eustace

The defeat to Oxford United will be a further wake-up call for Eustace and Rovers that the team does need to be strengthened in attack.

They were unable to break down Gary Rowett’s side, and it ultimately cost them important points in the play-off race.

If they are to challenge for a top six finish then they will need a consistent attacking threat for the second half of the campaign.

Bringing in Sanderson and Forshaw added some depth in the rest of the squad, but it might not be enough to get the club over the line for a play-off place.
