Incoming Real Madrid head coach José Mourinho has asked the club’s board to explore a deal for a member of the defensive ranks at Premier League champions Arsenal.

The player in question? Riccardo Calafiori.

Real Madrid have of course dominated the transfer headlines across Europe over the course of the last 48 hours. This comes after Los Blancos tied updeals for a pair of high-profile reinforcements, in the form of Ibrahima Konaté, and Denzel Dumfries.

As much comes amid an ongoing push to add quality and depth to the defensive ranks of the incoming José Mourinho.

If the latest word stemming from the Spanish media on Wednesday is anything to go by, though, then the Portuguese tactician is not yet satisfied.

As per a report from journalist Ramón Álvarez de Mon:

‘Mourinho has asked Real Madrid to explore the option of signing Calafiori. He likes the Italian’s versatility (centre-back, left-back).’
