José Mourinho reaches 50th home league win with Benfica

José Mourinho marked his second stint at Benfica with a landmark, claiming his 50th home win as a Primeira Liga coach in a 3-0 defeat of Vitória de Guimarães at Estádio da Luz.

Glorioso 1904 notes this latest chapter in his return to Portuguese football.

The result extended his home league run in Portugal to at least 50 matches without defeat across Porto and Benfica. His most recent home loss came in February 2002, when Porto were beaten 3-2 by Beira-Mar.

Since that setback, nearly 25 years have passed without another home league defeat in Portugal. The night was also notable for Benfica midfielder Richard Ríos.

Approaching the run-in, Benfica are third on 62 points, level with Sporting in second who have a game in hand. Both clubs trail leaders Porto. Benfica visit Casa Pia on 5 April.
