Joshua Zirkzee wants to stay at Manchester United for the rest of the season, according to journalist Samuel Luckhurst.
Serie A club Roma have been linked with Zizrkee, but he has expressed his desire to stay at Old Trafford beyond the transfer deadline.
The Netherlands international has made 14 appearances in the Premier League this season, with 10 of them coming off the bench. He has tallied two goals and an assist.
Zirkzee is currently behind Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo in the pecking order, despite the latter not being a natural striker.
He has missed the last two matches through injury, but has resumed training this week and will likely be part of the matchday squad against Fulham.
Zirkzee joined United for £36.5 million after an impressive 2023-24 campaign for Bologna, when he scored 11 goals in 34 Serie A matches.
However, he has failed to replicate that form in England, netting only nine times in 65 senior appearances.
The Dutch footballer was initially brought in as a striker to provide an alternative option to Rasmus Hojlund, but he appears more at ease as an attacking midfielder.
Zirkzee is highly rated for his link-up play and ball-carrying skills, but he is not a prolific goalscorer.
The forward’s contract will not expire until 2029, but United will likely sell him in the summer and attempt to sign a specialist striker to provide support for Sesko.
